The Multilingualism Doctoral School (MDS) focuses on the multidisciplinary approach to multilingualism, – one of the recently developed research areas in the highest demand, integrating humanities, social studies and natural sciences.Due to the multidisciplinary approach and the multitude of research methods, we run 6 modules: the methodology of multilingualism research, the neurolinguistics of multilingualism, multilingual development, multilingualism through instruction, multilingual processing, multilingualism in the society. Our students have the freedom to select from the offered courses and choose the most suitable, relevant and important ones for their own research and interest. A great emphasis is laid on research methodology. To ensure the multidisciplinary approach, in addition to the elective courses, each PhD student needs to sign up for the compulsory courses from each module. The chairs of the modules are internationally acknowledged professors in their own research area.

Checking all the necessary documents (degree(s), language examination certificates, etc.), then a Skype-interview with the candidate in the course of which we talk about the fields of interest of the candidate, their motivation and experiences and discuss the research plan. The interview serves as well for the observation and assessment of the candidate’s English proficiency level.
