Overview
Program description:
The Doctoral School of Chemistry offers a 4-year postgraduate training focused on individual research, supervised by one of the researchers of the School. The curriculum offers postgraduate training and a PhD Degree in a wide range of fields in chemical sciences: analytical chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, homogeneous catalysis, the chemistry of coordination compounds, electrochemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, theoretical chemistry, environmental chemistry, biochemistry, separation sciences, photochemistry and stochastic reaction kinetics.
Students have the opportunity to actively participate in ongoing research, which is the most efficient way of practice-based learning. They can gather sufficient practical knowledge, which can be easily utilized in later projects, whether the students wish to become university teachers or academic chemistry experts.

The grading system generally used by Hungarian higher education institutions is the

•Grade 4 is good.
•Grade 3 is satisfactory.
•Grade 2 is a pass.
•Grade 1 is a fail – the course must be repeated.
A carried out personal assessment with a close relationship of the supervisor/tutor can be
reflecting and progressive, which could give new directions and ideas and further selfesteem
to write individual publications, teach courses and to start or restart research work.
The way of a the feedback of the student’s academic achievement can be oral or written, it
could be discussed in a small lab-group or in a bigger conference audience or one-by-one
with the tutor, either way, it is inevitable and part of the Doctoral Program to be able to
complete successfully the comprehensive exam, and reach the postdoctoral level in the end.
The Public Defence and evaluation of the Thesis is regulated in the Doctoral Regulations of
