Overview
During this 4-semesters Master degree program, our students will focus on GIS
methods and remote sensing tool applied in surface geomorphology both in a
classroom environment and in the fields. They will have the opportunity to join
in and participate in research and scientific projects run by IGES. We have
research collaborations with global companies like ESA and SARMap, and
international relations with research groups from Switzerland, Poland, Spain,
Slovenia, China and US. These projects may provide internships for our students
to experience the international atmosphere and scientific skills and knowledge.
We also have a transnational environment here at UP with students from across
the globe.
The master program provides a broad spectrum of geography and related
disciplines for all international students and combines environmental geography,
geomorphology and GIS. The program includes a six-week long professional
practice at self-selected private and public businesses and companies, however,
the practice is also available at the university and at the IGES. By completing
the professional practice, you will gain a broad range of practical and project
management skills and knowledge to explain, analyse, interpret and execute
various planning programs.

Programme structure
At the Faculty of Sciences, the education is provided in a system of seminars,
laboratoris and lectures. Lectures are held for bigger audiences, sometimes
combined for similar sciences field together. At the end of the semester students
have to pass written or oral examinations. Seminars are usually more informal
study groups for a smaler group of students, where there is room for individual
consultation, discussion of the material and solving exercises. They usually
conclude with an independently written paper or an examination.
The grading system generally used by Hungarian higher education institutions is
the following:
•The highest grade is 5 excellent.
•Grade 4 is good.
•Grade 3 is satisfactory.
•Grade 2 is a pass.
•Grade 1 is a fail – the course must be repeated.
