Overview
In 2017, ELTE established the Institute of Business Economics, from August 2021 Faculty of Economics. With the 2018 launch of the Bachelors, Masters, and MBA programmes in the teaching portfolio, the Institute became the most sought-after School for Business Economics Masters education in Hungary, and for Bachelors a Top3 provider with respect to size, with the highest minimum points for entry. In total we currently have around 6000 students. Our 2-year MBA programme has become the most popular programme from 2020 in Hungary. In the coming years we aim to maintain this position (around 150 MBA student enrolments/year), and with the launch of the Business Economics PhD programme in the academic year 2021/2022, we have finished developing our teaching portfolio.
Primarily targeting international business environments, our trainings are attractive for high-ability and diligent students, and we currently only offer English degrees in two of our Bachelors, International Business Economics (8 semesters) and Finance and Accounting (7 semesters). International students share classes with Hungarian students and Erasmus+ students from partner Universities. We have started some of the international accreditation processes. Since 2020 we have been a member institution of the Business Graduates Association (BGA), an international membership and quality assurance body of Business Schools. Our “MSc in Accounting” programme has been recognised by the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), and awarded exemption accreditation for the exams in “Financial Reporting” and “Audit and Assurance”.
The primary goals of the International Business Economics Programme at Eötvös Loránd University are to familiarise students with the challenging issues of international economic processes both on macro and micro level and to get them acquainted with the European business environment in order to be able to perform successfully in a multinational business environment.
This program is recommended to applicants who are keen to become specialists in economics and are open to multi-cultural business environments, and includes a semester for professional practice in an international work environment.
This program enables students to become experts in international market processes, the operation of the EU and the economic, political, and cultural impacts of globalization.
