Overview
Established in 2017 as an Institute, the Faculty of Economics (GTK) is a recent addition to ELTE, Hungary’s oldest and most distinguished university, but it is already a strong contender for being the No. 1 among Hungarian business and economics programmes. Within three years of becoming a Faculty in 2021, we have become the single most sought-after school for Business Economics Master’s training in Hungary, and for Bachelor’s, a Top3 provider with respect to size, with the highest minimum points for entry. Our MBA programme was the most popular programme in Hungary in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and with the launch of the Business Economics PhD programme in the academic year 2021/2022, we finished developing our teaching portfolio. In total we currently have over 6000 students.
We take a modern approach to business education, promoting responsible leadership and sustainable business practices in close collaboration between students and teaching and research staff.
Primarily targeting international business environments, our trainings are attractive to high-ability and diligent students, and we currently offer two English degree programs at bachelor level, namely International Business Economics (8 semesters) and Finance and Accounting (7 semesters). International students share classes with Hungarian students and also Erasmus+ and guest students from partner Universities. Despite its short existence, GTK is a proud member of Business Graduates Association (BGA), an international membership and quality assurance body of Business Schools and has already accumulated two recognitions and accreditations. Further international accreditation processes have also been initiated. Two of ELTE GTK’s programmes boast international accreditations by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the world’s most prestigious professional body in the field of finance and accounting. In addition to exemptions available to students on the Master’s in Accounting programme, it is ELTE GTK’s Finance and Accounting BA programme which is the only Hungarian bachelor’s programme to have earned five exemptions from ACCA’s examinations.
The primary goals of the Finance and Accounting BA Programme at Eötvös Loránd University are to familiarise students with economic processes both at a macro and a micro level and to acquaint them with the European monetary and business environment with a focus on finance, accounting, and controlling.
This program is recommended to applicants who are keen to become specialists in finance, accounting, and controlling, coupled with an up-to-date approach to business economics. The programme includes a compulsory internship in an international work environment which gives students a significant competitive advantage in the job market.
This program enables students to become experts in economics and financial planning, to manage financial projects and help financial decision-making in companies.
