Entry qualification | Master diploma (or higher) The Master diploma (or higher) has to be minimum with ‘good’ or equivalent qualification. B2 level (or higher) language exam, Research Plan (3-5 pages), and a Letter of Acceptance from your future ELTE supervisor. EÖTVÖS LORÁND UNIVERSITY ONLY ACCEPTS EXCHANGE STUDENTS FOR 5 MONTHS (1 SEMESTER) OR 10 MONTHS (2 SEMESTERS) IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The deadline for uploading your Research Plan and Statement of the Supervisor is the last day of the application period. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English. In most cases you can request a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. |

Overview
The aim of the doctoral program is to develop research skills and enable students to attain knowledge in the fields of political, social, and cultural history. Special emphasis will be placed on Central European and Hungarian history as well as comparative and global histories.

The Entry Requirement is completed MA-level studies in the field related to the desired Ph.D. program and a B2 level or higher language exam and a Letter of Acceptance from your future ELTE supervisor.

Before sending the application, please contact the head of the doctoral training programme you wish to study at!
Review of the candidates is based on the submitted application documents and on a MS TEAMS or personal interview. The applicants will be interviewed by an admission committee (entrance examination). In this interview, they will be asked about previous university achievements, the individual research plan and the scientific competence in the field of interest.
The Faculty’s doctoral council decides of acceptance or rejection on the grounds of the admission committees reports made following the interview.
Preparatory and Specialisation years are not available for Ph.D. studies.
