Entry qualification

Bachelor diploma (or higher) Awarded Bachelor of Science degree (min. 180 ECTS) in Agriculture, Food Science and Biotechnology, Environment and Bio-Resources Management, Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning, Forestry or related relevant fields. For graduates of bachelor’s programs which are not listed above, mastery of the following learning outcomes (evidenced by ECTS) is required for admission. At least 60 ECTS from the following areas: • Natural science: min. 20 ECTS • Plant production: min. 10 ECTS • Animal Science: min. 10 ECTS • Economic Sciences: min. 10 ECTS • Food Science: min. 10 ECTS • Technological Sciences min. 8 ECTS While you must necessarily have obtained your first higher education degree at the time of enrolment, the EMJM DAFM consortium accepts applications from students in the last year of their first higher education degree ONLY FROM WITHIN THE EU. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. It is required that you send verified copies of the entry qualification documents directly to the university by postal mail. Important! Never send original documents by post! Sending verified copies of the required documents is asked only from the selected applicants in the end of the selection process.

(max 200 characters) Online interview process Based on the academic excellence, the language skills and language exam results, the motivation letter, and the evaluation of the referees, out of all applicants approximately 100 will be preseleced and invited to an online interview process. Academic and English language knowledge, along with motivation and communication skills will be tested. The recorded interviews togerther with the application will be evaluated by the Selection Commitee of the DAFM Consortium. Specific requirements for Non-EU applicants: DAFM can admit - 16 non-EU applicants with an Erasmus Mundus scholarship (1.400 EUR/months for max. 24 months study period) and - 5 non-EU applicants without scholarship but tuition fee free (for partner country student it is 9.000 EUR per year) per intake (Approx. 600 EUR monthly is necessary to cover your living expenses.) Overview

Sustainability in Agriculture, Food Production and Food Technology in the Danube Region (Danube AgriFood Master – DAFM) is a two-year (120 ECTS) joint degree master in English.
It is a unique blend covering the whole food supply chain from a sustainable combination of ecologycal and conventional agriculture, food safety, soil, water and climate issues, biotechnology, energy systems, which are hot issues worldwide, also proven by the world pandemic as well as the extended circle of DAFM supporters (ministries, companies, NGOs). The added value of DAFM is the combination of special expertise and complementary strengths of each university in a jointly integrated, interdisciplinary curriculum.
Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Hungary (MATE), Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic (CZU), University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria (BOKU), University of Zagreb, Croatia (UNIZG), University of Life Sciences “King Michael I” from Timisoara, Romania (ULST), Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, Slovak Republic (SUA) and University of Novi Sad, Serbia (UNS) offer up-to-date, research based teaching contents and methods to students with a BSc and background in natural, technological and economic sciences.
DAFM Alumni have academic knowledge focusing on the Danube Region (perfectly transferable to any other river basin area), as well as transversal skills (critical thinking, foreign languages, intercultural competences, entrepreneurial qualifications).
The acquired skills and comprehensive knowledge enable graduates to successfully work for public offices, research institutes, development agencies, regional advisory companies, wholesalers/retailers, food-processing companies, NGOs and governmental institutions. Involvement of companies and similar stakeholders guarantees the constant analysis and update of the curriculum with regard to job-market needs.

Programme structure

As DAFM is a joint master programme different mobility tracks are available for the students. You can indicate your preference in the application form, but the final decision on applicants’ mobility track will be approved by the DAFM executive board taking into account the even distribution of students amongst the participating universities, the academic profile and interests of the student.
