Overview

Program description:
We offer two PhD programmes – in Civil Engineering and in Earth Sciences – in continuation of the three master programs of the Faculty, with strong links with industry.
The programme in Civil Engineering offers the opportunity to draw on our expertise in structural, geotechnical, transportation and water infrastructure engineering, including the interdisciplinary field of biomechanics. Research is supported by an array of specialised experimental facilities as well as the computational modelling of the dynamics of satellites, structures, soils, construction materials, fluids and the natural environment.

Entry requirements:
diploma of MSc in Civil Engineering or in relevant engineering field; research plan agreed by the host institute in advance;
language skills proven by TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent certificates (for further information refer to www.bme.hu);
successful admission test and interview

Admission procedure in general and general requirements: refer to admission regulations Minimum criteria: diploma of MSc in Civil Engineering or a field related to the research topic Steps: – preevaluation of the submitted documents: quality of MSc diploma, quality of MSc and BSc transcripts, quality of research plan; additional evaluated aspects: mention of the preference for one of our active research topics in the research proposal, quality of motivation letter, recommendation letters, extra-curricular activities (e.g. involvement in education, research, publication activitites, technical contests, additional language knowledge, etc.) – electronic interview (via internet): evaluation of language skills (the interview is in English), motivation, attitude, technical preparedness in the selected research field; Result: admission to PhD programme /admission rejected
