Program description:
The two-year MSc program in Applied Mathematics ( provides a profound knowledge of applied mathematics which is competitive both in the academic and non-academic sectors. Possible specializations are Stochastics and Financial Mathematics. Students of our MSc program may enter leading-edge research projects of the Department of Stochastics (a cutting edge research center in stochastics, the host of our MSc studies). The most important features of our MSc programs are as follows: On the one hand, we put emphasis on building closer personal relationship between our students and the teaching staff of the Department via providing personal tutors to all of our MSc students. On the other hand, we do not only give a very profound knowledge in Stochastics but we also prepare all of the students for successful collaboration with those people from industry, finance or insurance sectors who apply mathematics in their work. Some of the best students of our MSc program continue their studies and become Ph.D. students at either our university or some cutting-edge universities in the US or Europe. Others get well-paid jobs at leading banks, insurance, and consulting companies, like Morgan Stanley or in the industry.

Admission procedure in general and general requirements: refer to admission regulations at Steps: – preevaluation of the submitted documents (max 50 points): quality of BSc diploma, quality of BSc transcript, obtained credits in field of Mathematics. Full points can be awarded only if minimum 50 ECTS credits in the field of Mathematics are obtained. – electronic interview (in English, via internet) (max 50 points): evaluation of motivation, attitude, technical preparedness of the candidate with special emphasis on workmanship in probability and statistics. Result: admission to MSc programme/ admission rejected. In order to be admitted, a minimum of 70 points is required. Further details in the admission regulation.
