Overview

The aim of the training is to train social pedagogues who provide assistance using theoretical knowledge of the functioning and disorders of society, interpersonal relationships, deviance, special needs groups, education, development and social professional assistance in public education, social, child welfare and child protection basic and specialised care settings. They focus on the social inclusion of children and young people and their families, groups and communities, and on improving the life chances and quality of life of disadvantaged people and people in need of social care. Their activities aim to restore social and community relations based on individual and collective responsibility, social justice, democratic thinking, human and children’s rights. The aim is also to train professionals with a high level of professional knowledge who are capable of carrying out research, expert, teaching, decision-making, management, planning and organisation tasks in the social pedagogical field, either individually or in groups, with a high level of responsibility. They are prepared to continue their studies in doctoral studies.

Qualification: Social Pedagogue (Master degree)

The Social Pedagogy course is primarily open to those who like to work with children and young people, are committed to the development and support of children, young people and people in need, are creative in organising leisure activities, motivated to learn about the social, child protection and education systems of society and effective in managing human relations.

Master’s graduates can find employment in all types of child protection (e.g. children’s homes, residential care homes), child welfare (e.g. family and child welfare services, secure start children’s homes) and social services (e.g. support services, day care and residential homes for the elderly, institutions for people with disabilities, psychiatric and addiction services, institutions for the care of the homeless), welfare-oriented NGOs and churches, public administration in the fields of guardianship and social affairs, public education (e.g. school child protection officer/school social pedagogue), colleges, police youth protection, social science research institutions.
