Overview
Photography education at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design has a history dating back over 35 years, with excellent results. From September 2022, the programme will be available in English, supported by various scholarships covering up to 100% of the tuition fee. On a university campus with one of the most cutting-edge technical backgrounds in the region, professors renowned in Hungary and Europe support students in becoming highly autonomous creators who can respond to the challenges of the world sensitively and progressively, both locally and globally. We place a particular focus on the past, present and future of photography in Central and Eastern Europe.
The central elements of the training are the development of long-term photographic projects, research in design and art, the mastery of an experimentational approach, the exploration of the boundaries of photography, and collaboration with professional partners and cultural institutions in a real-life setting. Already during the training, we put emphasis on the successful participation of our students in international and Hungarian competitions, fairs and festivals.
Director of the Media Institute: Balázs Vargha Habil. associate university professor
Head of Programme: Gábor Arion Kudász DLA, photographer, associate university professor
Professional competences
Graduates of the MA Photography programme are proactive, open-minded artists who have a deep understanding of the Central European photographic scene and who can leverage their confident communication skills in the international photographic community. They become capable of delivering a full spectrum of sophisticated, in-depth and autonomous photographic projects and, as a new generation of responsible photographers, they understand to what considerable extent photography is shaping our changing society.
The skills acquired in the Master’s programme provide the technical and theoretical background necessary for our students to succeed in a variety of jobs.
