Entry qualification | High school / secondary education (or higher) The students who can apply for the Spanish Studies BA Program are expected to present the documentation of their certificate of matriculation from a secondary school and to submit their application with the necessary attachments. The university accepts only certificates, which are equivalent to the Hungarian certificate of matriculation, thus appropriate for continuing one’s studies in university education. If the certificate is not in English, the university needs an official translation, which could be a translation by the secondary school as well. If the applicant completes their secondary education during the current term and their certificate is not issued before the application deadline, a proof of student status or a certification, which verifies that the applicant will receive matriculation is required instead. In case of being accepted as a student, however, the applicant must present their certificate of matriculation upon enrolment at the latest. The educational and outcome requirements are defined by the Ministry of Human Capacities, Regulation No. 18/2016. (VIII. 5.). The details of the application and admission process are defined by the Organisational and Operational Regulations of ELTE. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Spanish. In most cases you can request a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. |

Program description:
El objetivo de este programa de estudios es la formación de profesionales de la lengua y la cultura hispánicas que tengan conocimientos teóricos y habilidades prácticas en el ámbito de las ciencias sociales, y puedan llevar a cabo tareas multifacéticas, inter- y multidisciplinarias. Los graduados poseen amplios conocimientos teóricos para continuar sus estudios en el segundo ciclo.
Los titulados de Primer Grado (BA):
• tienen conocimientos sobre toda la cultura hispánica
• son capaces de comunicar en español tanto por escrito como oralmente, en el nivel avanzado
• están preparados para tratar el idioma y la cultura hispánicas con métodos y técnicas de investigación de última generación
• comprenden textos de diferentes tipos y son capaces capaz de resumirlos, traducirlos e interpretarlos
• en su carrera profesional podrán hacer uso de sus conocimientos sobre problemas sociales, económicos y ambientales de Hungría, España y América Latina
The aim of the program is to train professionals in the Spanish language and culture who possess theoretical knowledge and practical skills within the domain of social sciences to carry out multi-faceted, inter- and multidisciplinary research. Graduates have ample theoretical knowledge to continue their studies in the second cycle.
Strength of program
BA degree holders will have comprehensive knowledge of the Spanish culture be able to communicate in Spanish both in writing and in speech at an advanced level to be prepared to study the Spanish language and culture with state of the art methods and techniques of research, comprehend texts in general and be able to summarize, translate, and interpret them to be able to make use of their knowledge of the social, economic, and environmental problems of Hungary, Spain, and Latin-America in their careers.
The BA system program lasts 3 years. The program is divided into two periods: the first year as the foundations, the second and third years as the main part of the program. At the end of each period there are comprehensive examinations. At the end of the foundations stage, students have a proficiency exam in Spanish, at the end of the main part of the training students write their thesis and take the final exam. Note that the program does not offer teaching qualifications.
Entry requirements: A B2-level, internationally recognized language certificate in the target language or a diploma in the target language.

Entrance exam description:
The application documents are processed by the Department of International Affairs and then forwarded to the department responsible for the given degree programme. The department checks the documents and organizes an interview by telephone, online (e.g. Skype) or in person. After the entrance interview, the department comes to a decision and informs the Department of International Affairs.
