Entry qualification | High school / secondary education (or higher) The students who can apply for the German BA Program are expected to present the documentation of their certificate of matriculation from a secondary school and to submit their application with the necessary attachments. The university accepts only certificates, which are equivalent to the Hungarian certificate of matriculation, thus appropriate for continuing one’s studies in university education. If the certificate is not in English, the university needs an official translation, which could be a translation by the secondary school as well. If the applicant completes their secondary education during the current term and their certificate is not issued before the application deadline, a proof of student status or a certification, which verifies that the applicant will receive matriculation is required instead. In case of being accepted as a student, however, the applicant must present their certificate of matriculation upon enrolment at the latest. This program is not available for Hungarian citizens. The educational and outcome requirements are defined by the Ministry of Human Capacities, Regulation No. 18/2016. (VIII. 5.). The details of the application and admission process are defined by the Organisational and Operational Regulations of ELTE. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / German. In most cases you can request a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. |

Overview
Program description:
The German Studies bachelor’s course aims to train professionals in German Language in speech and writing, who are capable of a high level (according to the common European language system, at least C1 level) use and acquire in-depth theoretical and practical information related to German in the areas of culture and history. These skills and knowledge enables students to perform managing and organizing tasks for tourism; the economy, the media and the press; culture and public administration; the general ability to translate and interpret texts.

Strength of program:
The BA program comprises a 3 year course of studies. The program is divided into two tracks: the first year track offers a general introduction, the second and third years are reserved for the main module. At the end of each track there are complex examinations. At the end of the general track students take the language proficiency examination, at the end of the main module they take the final examination and conclude their program.
Im Rahmen der germanistischen BA-Ausbildung sollen Fachleute für die deutsche Sprache ausgebildet werden, die mündlich und schriftlich auf einem hohen (C1) Niveau kommunizieren können. Im Studiengang werden die Kompetenzen der Studierenden bei der Verwendung des Deutschen in der alltäglichen Kommunikation, im akademischen Bereich, wie auch beim Übersetzen und Dolmetschen gefördert. Somit eignen sich die Studierenden die Grundlagen der akademischen Forschung, der Bewertung und der kritischen Überlegung im Bereich der deutschsprachigen Literatur an und erhalten einen Einblick in die sprachwissenschaftlichen Ebenen der Beschreibung und der Analyse des Deutschen. Der Studiengang bereitet die Studierenden für spezialisierte MA-Ausbildungen vor. Spezialisationsmöglichkeiten: Kontrastive Linguistik und Translatologie, Deutsch im Beruf.

Entrance exam description:
The application documents are processed by the Department of International Affairs and then forwarded to the department responsible for the given degree programme. The department checks the documents and organizes an interview by telephone, online (e.g. Skype) or in person. After the entrance interview, the department comes to a decision and informs the Department of International Affairs.
