Entry qualification | Bachelor diploma (or higher) For information about acceptable BA diplomas/study programmes, please see Annex 8 of the Academic Regulations for Students: uni.lisztacademy.hu/for-students/academic-rules-and-regulations-115265 Applicants must submit a preliminary credit recognition request directly to the Liszt Academy to determine whether the applicant’s BA diploma can be accepted to apply for the programme, unless they have finished their BA studies at the Liszt Academy in the same field. Deadline: 31 March The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Hungarian. In most cases you can request a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. Applicants are required to submit an official Hungarian translation of their BA diploma until 31 March. English translations are accepted during the application period, but a Hungarian translation must be submitted by 31 March. Hungarian translations have to be done based on the original document and NOT copies of the original document. Translations made based on copies of certificates are NOT accepted. Other supporting documents can be submitted in English. Overview
Program description:
Individual lessons one on one with a composition teacher, developing one’s own compositions and analyzing pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Performance of both orchestral and vocal final diploma pieces.
Composition-related special courses offered on several topics freely chosen based upon the individual’s needs and area of interests.
Master courses given by various visiting professors and artists.
Possibility to deepen studies in the field of electronic music.
Selection process:
Applicants for full-time studies in Musical Composition are first evaluated based on the portfolio they uploaded in the application system (sheet music of three of their own compositions, and recordings if possible).
The entrance examinations for all courses at the Liszt Academy of Music take place at the end of June and at the beginning of July. Scholarship applicants whose submitted musical portfolio (recording of three works performed by the applicant) has passed the pre-screening evaluation are informed about the exact date of their entrance examination during May. The entrance examinations take place at the Liszt Academy of Music, in Budapest, Hungary. All applicants are required to appear before the Entrance Examination Committe in person for the examinations. Live streaming, video streaming, DVDs, CDs, or any other recordings are not accepted as a substitute. Applicants are informed about the result of the entrance examinations in July.
Entry requirements: Applicants are to take a practical examination in their chosen specialisation (live audition), and theoretical examination (written examination).
