Entry qualification | Master diploma (or higher) DISCIPLINES OF THE ROSKA TAMÁS DOCTORAL SCHOOL OF SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY – Information Science Applicants must be University graduates (MSc degree) with a minimum quality of 75% in the relevant study field of the PhD Program. A Transcript of Records regarding all academic semesters completed during MSc studies is necessary. Relevant scientific fields: Applicants must have a good command of English: they must have at least intermediate level (B2) certified by an internationally accredited language examination (see details below). Applicants are required to state the discipline and the name of their prospective supervisor who has to be an active member of the Roska Tamás Doctoral School (a Letter of Acceptance from the prospective supervisor is an obligatory part of the application package). Applicants will go through an oral interview as part of the application procedure. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English. In most cases you can request a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. Overview
Program description:
240 ECTS
Main research topics of the multidisciplinary doctoral school: bio-inspired and neuromorphic information technology and bionics; fundamentally new principles of sensory computing, surveillance, and navigation; molecular and nano sized sensing and computing; realizability studies of electronics and optics; human and artificial language technologies, artificial understanding and telepresence.
PhD students are offered graduate courses related to their chosen research area in the first 4 semesters. Course selections need to be discussed with the scientific supervisor. At the end of the 4th semester, PhD students have to take a qualifying exam to demonstrate their scientific skills.

Entry requirements:

- English language certificate: IELTS with score of 6.5 or TOEFL with score of 90 or PTE Academic with score of 59-64.
We accept the MSc diploma as language certificate if the language of instruction was English.

The application package submitted has to contain the following documents:
- a short description (max. 3 pages) of the Applicants’ results, plans, proposed subject of research;
- a short reference from the Applicants’ mentor (previous professor or other mentor);
- MSc diploma;
- English language certificate
After the evaluation of the documents received by the Admission Committee, the Applicant will be informed via email about the result. Based on the decision of the Admission Committee, the Applicant will be invited to take part in an online interview where he/she has to present his/her PhD application and previous studies.
Members of the Admission Committee are the heads of the programs and two additional persons proposed by the head of the Doctoral School and appointed by the Chairman of the Doctoral and Habilitation Board (hereinafter DHB). The Chairman of the Admission Committee is appointed by the Chairman of the DHB.
