Programme description:
The BSc in Horticultural Engineering program of the Institute of Horticultural Sciences at MATE is unique in Europe regarding the availability of a comprehensive choice in training and specialization including all the horticultural disciplines (floriculture and dendrology, medicinal plant production, fruit growing, viticulture and oenology, vegetable and mushroom growing). We provide a high intellectual and modern infrastructural background for education and research work for students during the preparation of the thesis. BSc in Horticultural Engineering is recommended for applicants who intend to get a degree at a prestigious Institute and university with a high international reputation and become agrarian professionals, who are acquainted with Hungarian and European agriculture as well as with the food industry. Our graduates are trained for modern professional skills based on comprehensive knowledge of natural and social sciences and are capable of the management and organization of horticultural production lines and leading horticultural enterprises. A horticultural engineer is able to complete issues of the agrarian policy administration and the tasks of a professional consultant. Based on proper language knowledge, our graduates easily get acquainted with the recent results of the profession and utilize them in practice and are capable of establishing professional relationships with foreign experts. Our students attending lectures, seminars, and practical training are always surrounded by the magnificent Arboretum of Buda situated on the southern slope of the Gellért Hill and enjoy the cultural life and leisure time in Budapest, the beautiful capital of Hungary.
