Széchenyi István University
Széchenyi István University (SZE) is located in Győr, a prosperous city in northwest Hungary, situated midway between the capitals of Hungary, Austria and Slovakia. As a dynamically developing HEI with nearly 13,500 students, since 2016 the University has seen a rapid rise in the number of international students, now representing 65 nations.
With a total number of approximately 200 study programmes at all academic levels, within the 9 Faculties and 4 Doctoral Schools, the University offers a choice of 34 English-taught programmes with STEM subjects (18 programmes) and Business & Economics disciplines (7 programmes) dominating. In conjunction with the University of Rhode Island (Kingston, RI, USA) SZE has launched an AACSB accredited double-degree MBA degree, employing world-class educators.
Due to its optimum location, the city of Győr is a leading automotive and industrial hub. Ever since its establishment in the city in 1993, Audi Hungaria Zrt., now ranking as the world’s largest engine plant, has enjoyed organic cooperation with Széchenyi István University, which carries out industrial research activities for and in conjunction with the company. In 2015, the partnership resulted in the creation of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering, now boasting six professorships. Studies in the field of Vehicle Engineering are consequently a highly popular choice for international applicants.
The rapid pace of the internationalization process at Széchenyi István University is evidenced by the recent massive infrastructural renewal of the main campus. International students can now benefit from state-of-the-art Halls of Residence, sports facilities, catering units, shops and student community spaces. We are proud of the fact that our central Campus has been awarded the title of the most attractive in Hungary.
