The city of Sopron is located at the Austrian border, near to the Lake Fertő, at the foot of the Alps. Founded in 1735, the University of Sopron is proud to be located in this city, where the long-living traditions and the methods in scientific researches and education provides the students a mixture of past and future. The University offers programs for the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program on three faculties: Charles Simonyi Faculty of Engineering, Wood Sciences and Applied Arts, the Faculty of Forestry and the Alexandre Lamfalussy Faculty of Economics. The University of Sopron is a “Green University” – we have been working on ecologically, economically and socially adaptable methods for providing sustainable development. Connecting to this, a real oddity of the University is the Botanical Garden as surrounding area that provides the University of Sopron a very special flair.
The university provides for Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holders a placement in one of the dormitories. The fee for the dormitory is paid by the program. If you wish to rent a flat or room on your own there is an accommodation contribution per month of 40.000HUF.
In the BA program you get 40.460HUF scholarship/month which is about 120EUR depending on the daily course. In the PhD program the scholarship is 140.000HUF/month in the first two years/during the training-research period and 180.000HUF/month in the second two years/during the research-dissertation period. In the first month you will probably spend more money to buy some basic things. Based on your own needs you might need an additional sum to the scholarship.
